Editorial Standards

Magnatefall tells the stories of empires that fell: frauds, collapses and companies that went from billions to nothing. These stories involve real people and real money, so we take getting them right seriously. This page explains how we work.

Where our facts come from

We build every file from primary records first: court judgments, indictments, trial transcripts, regulator filings (SEC, CFTC, DOJ), bankruptcy documents and company reports. We then check them against established news organizations. If a figure only shows up in one place and we can’t confirm it, it doesn’t go in.

How we write

  • Headlines say what the article delivers. No bait, no invented drama.
  • We separate what was proven in court from what was alleged, and say which is which.
  • Numbers are rounded honestly and dated, because a valuation in 2021 is not a valuation today.
  • We use plain English. If a term needs explaining, we explain it.

Who writes and reviews

Articles are researched and written by the Magnatefall Team, the same people behind our YouTube documentaries. Before anything is published, a second team member checks the facts, the dates and the sources against the draft.

Images and video

We use licensed stock photography and our own graphics. Stock images are illustrations, not photos of the people or events described, unless the caption says otherwise.

Independence

No company or person pays to be covered, left out, or treated softly. If we ever run advertising, it is kept clearly separate from our reporting and never shapes what we write.

Updates and mistakes

Stories move: appeals are filed, sentences change, people get released. We update files when the facts change and show the “Last updated” date on every article. When we get something wrong, we fix it openly. Read our Corrections Policy or contact us.
